My Journey Behind the Lens, Jamie Anderson
Today I'd like to tell you about the opportunity I had to give back to a Coastal Georgia foundation: The Ossabaw Island Foundation.
First a disclaimer... My '2021 - A Year in Review' photos are based on my own thoughts and opinions about my own photography that was actually taken in '21. It is not a "Bestsellers" list like I sometimes post. Bestseller lists are photos that everyone else has liked enough to make purchases. So, this is a collection of what I think are...

The Georgia Nature Photographer's Association (GNPA) Annual Expo was held from April 7, 2016 to April 10, 2016 in Jekyll Island, GA this year, specifically at the Villas by the Sea Resort. This was an awesome experience for this growing group of nature photography enthusiasts. The weather was great all weekend and the particpants were able to experience some of the great resources that we have here on the east coast of Georgia.
Hello again!
One day I'll get caught up on these blog posts. I seem to running about two weeks behind the actual photo shoot before I write the actual blog about it. Blogging is fairly new to me. Although I think I'm a fairly strong writer and can communicate well through writing, I still struggle to find the time and getting over that initial "writer's block" can cause some procrastination as well.
Tybee Island, Georgia is near Savannah, Georgia. It is the closest barrier island to where I live that is actually on the coast and has a beachfront and ocean view. It is a historic town, and like Savannah, has it's historic points of interests, e.g. ...
Hello There! This past month, I was able to revisit Harris Neck National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) with the Georgia Nature Photographers Association. Harris Neck NWR is a wildlife refuge that sits upon an old WWII airfield that was used for training pilots. In 1962 the US Wildlife Service established the refuge since the airfield was closed after the war. Currently, the refuge boasts a sizeable 2,824 acres of property and is home to the largest woodstork rookery in Georgia.
Another early morning start... My objective was to get to Midway, Georgia and drive east to Yellow Bluff Marina for some sunrise photography, then head over to Harris Neck Wildlife Refuge just after sunrise to hopefully get some wildlife photos.
So, up at 4:00AM. This time I was picking up an old friend of mine, Frank Carter...
For my photography adventure this weekend, I went to Tybee Island's South Beach at sunrise. This time of year sunrise comes about 7:15AM, so the day for me started about 4:30AM. I like to get up early, eat breakfast, and get on location at least 1/2 hour before sunrise. An hour before sunrise is better so you have a little more time to scout the area and find some interesting forground elements for the photography.
So here's what my schedule was like...
#1. Coastal Georgia is Beautiful! I do beleive the southern charm of the south actually came from and was born out of the beautiful nature in this area. It is a tranquil, peaceful place that is slow moving, full of history and character, and exudes southern charm.
