2026 GNPA Jekyll Island Expo Photo Contest: I was honored to have the four images above place in the highest Advanced Photographer Level in this contest. There were over 70 Georgia Nature Photographers Association (GNPA) members who attended the Expo and were eligible to enter the contest. "SpaceX Falcon9" placed 1st and "Galactic Reach" placed 2nd in the Advanced Peaceful Nightscapes category. "Tides on Driftwood" earned an Honorable Mention in the Advanced Historic Landmarks and Jekyll Treasures category. Finally, "Pelican Dive" placed 1st in the Advanced Extended Cut-4 Days on Jekyll Island category.
2025 7th Annual Oatland Island Wildlife Center/GNPA Photo Contest: "I See a C by the Sea" won 1st place in the Advanced Tier Seascapes Category and "Sand Dunes Sunset" won an Honorable Mention in the Advanced Tier Landscapes Category.
2025 Georgia Nature Photographer's Association (GNPA) post Expo Contest, "Escape to the Low Country": I was stoked and honored to have four of my images place in the Georgia Nature Photographer's Association Expo Contest "Escape to the Low Country". The photos had to be taken over a two day period during the Expo. I entered these in the highest photographer level... "Experienced". "Sea Oats and Stars" placed 2nd in the "Stars of the Viewfinders" category. "Tomotley Avenue of Oaks" placed 2nd in the "Low Country View" category. "Coastal Sunrise" placed 3rd in the "Sunrise/Sunset" category. Finally, "Mother of Three" placed 2nd in the "Birds not in Flight" category. These photos are available via inquiries only right now.
2025 GNPA Pre Expo Contest "Find Your View": "Maggie Soco" placed 3rd in the Experienced "Finding Waterfalls" category, and "Nectar of Daisy" placed 3rd in the Experienced "Closeup Insects" category. There were about 180 photos entered into the contest in three different photographer levels with "Experienced" being the highest level. These two photos are available via inquiries only right now.
2025 GNPA 10th Anniversary 'Walking in Ansel Adams Footsteps': "Parrish's Mill Covered Bridge B&W" won an Honorable Mention in the Advanced Georgia Landscapes Category. This is strictly a Black and White Contest honoring the legacy of the great Ansel Adams. All 135 photos (including two more of mine) that were selected to participate in this contest are hung in a gallery at the Hudgens Center of Art and Learning in Atlanta thru April 26, 2025.
2024 6th Annual Oatland Island Wildlife Center/GNPA Photo Contest: "A Gulf Fritillary" won 2nd Place in the Tier 1 (Advanced) "Found at Oatland Island" category.
2024 GNPA Post Expo Contest: In the Post Expo Contest, the photographs had to be taken during the Expo on Jekyll Island during certain time periods and each photographer could only enter one photograph per category. There were 6 categories and over 100 nature photographers attended the Expo. I was honored to have "Eaglets Playing on the Beach" (Jekyll Island Birds category) and "The Icon" (Sunrise/Sunset category) both win 1st Places. "Atlantic Ocean Morning" (Water category) won 3rd place, and "Oke Owl" (Everything Oke category) won an Honorable Mention.
2024 GNPA "Georgia on My Mind" statewide Expo Contest: Proud to have "Low Milky Way at High Tide" win 3rd in the Advanced Georgia State Parks Landscape division. In this contest, participants could only enter one photo (their best photo) that had never won in a GNPA contest before.
2024 Stand In Ansel Adams Footsteps photo contest. I was honored to have "Cumberland Trail B&W" win 3rd Place in the Advanced Georgia Landscapes category. This photo will be on display and can be purchased through April 27th at the Hudgens Center for Art in Atlanta, GA.
2022 'Natural Expressions' statewide Georgia Nature Photography Association contest. "Skimmers at Sunrise" and "Cumberland Trail B&W" were both selected to display at the Alpharetta Arts Center in this contest.. "Skimmers at Sunrise" won 3rd in the Advanced Birds category.
2022 4th Annual Oatland Island Wildlife Center/Georgia Nature Photography Association Photo Contest - "The Buck Stops Here" won 2nd Place and "Eagle Buddies" won 3rd Place in the 'Found at Oatland Island' category in this statewide photo contest. "Whirlpool Sunrise" won an Honorable Mention in the 'Coastal Landscapes' category and 'Tricolored in the Cattails' also won an Honorable Mention in the 'Coastal Wildlife' category. These photos as well as all the winners will be on display (and for sale) at the Oatland Island Wildlife Center from September 2nd thru December 31st 2022. 25% of each sale will benefit the Friends of Oatland Island Wildlife Center. There were over 170 entries in this contest which was judged by Lisa Langell and David Akoubian.
2022 Georgia Nature Photography Association Expo Photo Contest - "Inertia" won 3rd place in the Macro category. The photo is currently not for sale on my website. If you are interested in purchasing it, feel free to contact me. The Expo Photo Contests are always a challenge because all photos entered in the contest need to be taken and processed during the Expo. This photo was captured during a trip that I was leading to Cumberland Island during the Expo.
2021 Georgia Nature Photography Statewide Double Vision Contest - "Driftwood Beach at Night 2" won an Honorable Mention. It is currently on display and for sale at the Tybee Cottage Art Gallery.
2019 2nd Annual Oatland Island Wildlife Center/Georgia Nature Photography Association Contest - I was honored to have three photos (above) that placed in this competition. This contest has grown and this year there were over 100 entries.

2019 Honorable Mention - I was honored to have "Tickle Me Purple", above, win an Honorable Mention in the Landscape category at the Georgia Nature Photography's 10th Anniversary Expo in Columbus, Georgia in April of 2019. There were over 260 entries in this contest from over 100 nature photographers who attended the Expo. In the landscape category as well as the other categories, there were photos from all over the country and even some from foreign countries.
2018 Georgia Nature Photography Association - Oatland Island Wildlife Center Competition - I was honored to have five of the six images that I submitted for the GNPA Sponsored Oatland Island Wildlife Center Competition place in the top five in each category in 2018. There were over 80 images submitted from statewide participants in this competition. All of the images above were displayed at the Oatland Island Wildlife Center gallery from January-April of 2019. 2018 State Top 24 - "Keenly Aware", pictured above, placed in the top 24 in the statewide Georgian Nature Photography Association's 'Nature in Black and White' contest. It was displayed in the Chattahoochee Nature Center's gallery in Roswell, Georgia from October through December of 2018.
2018 State Top 12 – “Wicked Beauty” won Top 12 in the Georgia Nature Photography Association (GNPA) “Double Vision” Contest in the summer of 2018. The photograph will be painted by an artist from the Roswell Fine Art Academy and both pieces will be on display at the Chattahoochee Nature Center in Roswell, GA in the Summer/Fall of 2018. This photo can also be seen on The Weather Channel, Mon-Fri, 5pm-8pm on the their Weather Underground program.
2017 2nd Runner Up and State Top 24 - “Driftwood Reflections” won Top 24 in the statewide Georgia Nature Photography Association (GNPA) “Double Vision” contest. It was painted by a Roswell Fine Art Academy artist and both pieces were displayed at the Chattahoochee Nature Center Fine Art Gallery in Roswell, GA in the Summer/Fall of 2017. The same piece also won 2nd Runner Up in the Coastal Wildscapes Photo Competition and will be displayed at the Darian Old Jail Art Center in April/May of 2018.
2016 3rd Place - "Tybee Stars and Sand before Sunrise". 3rd Place in the Georgia Nature Photography Association's (GNPA) "Double Vision" contest. This photograph was painted by an artist from the Roswell Fine Art Academy who won 1st place and was displayed with the artist's painting at the Chattahoochee Nature Center Fine Art Gallery in Roswell, GA in the Summer/Fall of 2016.
2015 1st Place - "Beach Dunes Sunrise", 1st Place/Best in Show in the GNPA Coastal Division, Road to Callaway Gardens Contest. It was displayed at the Callaway Garden's Discovery Center Fine Art Gallery in the Summer of 2015.
