Sea Oats and Swing
Jamie Anderson
So, ya want to be a nature photographer?
It had been mostly cloudy this year over the summer. I had some success in the spring with finding crystal clear nights with no moon to do this type of photography. However, over this particular summer, the clouds seemed to be more frequent with more afternoon rain storms and vary rarely did we have a clear night with no moon.
There were some nights when it was predicted and seemed like it would be a clear night, only to go out on sight and find the clouds building instead of dissipating after dark. However, in October, we finally got through the peak hurricane season of September. Hurricane Idalia was the only hurricane to effect our area this year.
The cool fronts that started in October are what finally pushed the clouds out long enough to have a
crystal clear night with no moon up and I was able to capture this beautiful view of the Milky Way by everyone's favorite swing, next to the sea oats.
So, ya want to be a nature photographer? It takes patient, persistence, and a willingness to keep going and never give up. Success in this business can be measured in many ways... from simply capturing the photo you dreamed of, to making hundreds of thousands of dollars off it it. Nothing is achieved, however, without sacrifice.
