Tybee Island's North Beach at Sunrise - 02-27-16
Mar 16, 2016
Hello again!
One day I'll get caught up on these blog posts. I seem to running about two weeks behind the actual photo shoot before I write the actual blog about it. Blogging is fairly new to me. Although I think I'm a fairly strong writer and can communicate well through writing, I still struggle to find the time and getting over that initial "writer's block" can cause some procrastination as well.
Tybee Island, Georgia is near Savannah, Georgia. It is the closest barrier island to where I live that is actually on the coast and has a beachfront and ocean view. It is a historic town, and like Savannah, has it's historic points of interests, e.g. the Tybee Lighthouse, Fort Screven, and Fort Pulaski. One day I hope to devote a section of my photography to "Historical and Cultural" photos that I have taken over the years. Would anyone be interested in them? I don't know, maybe....
Today, my goal was to meet up with the Georgia Nature Photographer's Coastal Division and shoot the sunrise and then later shoot some of the wild shore birds which inhabit the island. As usual, I decided to get there before dawn. I actually got there so early this morning, that I tried my hand at some star photography. Here's a couple from the early morning:

The second one above was back toward the east and you can see the glow of twilight before the sun came up in the lower left. (You also can't see the stars as well, lol).
Currently, I do better at sunrise photography. Here's a couple from that early frigid morning. I think it was about 35 degrees out. I did put the second one below up for sale on this website.

Here's a few from the birding photography shoot. You can click on the ones that are for sale. If you are interested in any of the other ones please feel free to contact me about them.

Key Takeaway: For most outdoor photography, the golden hours work best. The golden hours are 1-2 hours after sunrise or 1-2 hours before sunset. Sunrises and Sunsets also make great outdoor nature photography shots, so I usually plan to arrive early or stay late.
