"The Light" was photographed in February 2018 on Tybee Island, Georgia.
The sunrise only aligns with the end of the pier like this on a couple of days out of each year. I've seen it depicted in artist's renderings, however, I've never seen it in photographs before. So, I set out, planning, to find out when the sunrise would align with the pier. And once I discovered when it would align, it then becomes a waiting game. Sometimes in photography you have to be very patient and wait. I waited over four months for this alignment, however, on the grand scale of things, that's not a long wait. The wait can be much longer than four months and there are no guarantees that the photography will work out on any given day that you plan out in the future.Thankfully, it was not a cloudy day and I did see the sunrise. In fact, there were no clouds at all, which normally is not good for sunrise photography either. However, on this particular day it worked out and the bright sun worked into the scene very nicely and I was able to capture some awesome sunrays and sunbursts as the sun came up very brightly.
"The Light" title comes from a viewer comment, "The Light at the end of the tunnel". Sometimes, during this time of year at the end of the winter season, we look forward to the "The Light" and longer days with more light. The winter season with shorter days and longer nights can be depressing for some people. "The Light" at the end of a tunnel can also represent renewed hope for greater things to come and happier times.
I think this will make a great fine art wall art piece for anyone who likes coastal Georgia fine art, Tybee art, beach art, or anyone who would like to be reminded daily that no matter how bad it might seem, there is "The Light" at the end of the tunnel.
