"Milky Way O'er Ossabaw" was photographed in June of 2019 on Ossabaw Island, Georgia.
The Marshes of Ossabaw can be seen in this photo on the right in the foreground. On the right in the background is part of Ossabaw Island itself. In this particular wooded area is Eleanor West's mansion and home for most of her life. On the left in the foreground is the Ogeechee River.
In the background night sky is the Milky Way itself with Jupiter, the brightest looking 'star'. Saturn can be seen a little lower and to the left and has a little red/pinkish color to it. On the horizon lights can be seen coming from boats out in the Atlantic Ocean, perhaps coming in and out of the port of Savannah.
It is a peaceful and beautiful scene. It reminds us of how small the earth is in relation to the rest of the universe. We are but a small spec rotating around just one of the stars in our galaxy and our whole galaxy is but a small star to the rest of the universe.
