"Full Moon Over Dunes" was photographed on Tybee Island in March 2018.
I have been waiting and wanting to capture this scene for a few years now. I had envisioned this image before, but it always seemed like the timing was not right, the lighting not right, or the weather was not right for me to get a pretty clear photography image of booth the dunes and full moon. Now that I've captured it once, I always look for room to improve it.
The March full moon is called the Worm Moon because in spring the earthworms begin to come out of hibernation. Other names for the full moon are the Crow Moon, Crust Moon, Sap Moon, Sugar Moon, and Chaste Moon. The Old English name for it was the Lenten Moon because of the Lent season before Easter in the spring.
I think this will make a great fine art wall art piece. It is a peaceful scene. I like how the sea oats are dancing up just high enough to touch the moon and I like the colors of the moon also. The faint clouds in front of the moon make the moon look almost like another planet, e.g. Jupiter, which adds some interest to the scene. So, for anyone who likes Tybee Island beach art or Coastal Georgia fine art, I think this piece will work well for you.
