"Wormsloe's Avenue of Oaks II" was photographed in April of 2020.
Wormsloe is a Georgia state historic site in Savannah on the Isle of Hope. It's history dates back to the colonial era. Noble Jones arrived with General Oglethorpe and was part of 42nd regiment of foot. He obtained a grant for the property and built a fortified house overlooking the Skidaway Narrows out of tabby. The fortified house was part of a defense system built because of a fear of a Spanish Invasion. The tabby ruins of this house are some of the oldest remaining structures in the state of Georgia. The area was developed into a plantation site. At first indentured servants were used because there was originally a ban of slave labor when Georgia was founded. Later, when the Trustees ended the ban, slave labor was used.
