"Super Blue Blood Moon Eclipse" was photographed January 31st, 2018 over the Moon River in Savannah, Georgia.
Consider the rarity of this moon for a moment. It was a Blue Moon, meaning it was the second full moon in one month. It was a super moon, meaning it was close enough to the earth to appear bigger and brighter and be considered a super moon. It was a blood moon, meaning it was passing through the earth's shadow and it was also a full lunar eclipse, meaning the earth's shadow would cover it completely. Here on the east coast of coastal Georgia, we were only able to see part of the total lunar eclipse before it set below the horizon. Still, this lunar event, with this trifecta happening on the same night, has not been seen in over 150 years, since 1866 to be exact. However, if you missed it you don't have to wait another 150 years. The next super blue blood moon eclipse is coming in 2037.
I liked this photo because of the reflection of the moon in the Moon River. I also liked the cell phone tower which give the moon a little more sense of scale. I also like the overall rarity of the lunar event itself. I think this will make a great fine art wall art piece for everyone who likes peaceful scenes of the full moon, especially the full moon above the water.
