"Forsyth Fountain at Night 2" was photographed in December of 2019.
Similar to my original "Forsyth Fountain at Night" photograph, this photo is a little bit less of close up and was taken from a little bit farther back on the walkway leading up to fountain. This photo includes the Forsyth Fountain spraying it's water with the Oak trees that line and cover the walk ways, the park benches, the old looking lamp posts, the wrought iron fence decorated for Christmas, and yes, that is two lovers in front of the fountain.
The historic Forsyth Fountain was erected in 1858. It is reminiscent of the fountains in the Place de la Concorde in Paris, France and also Cuzco, Peru. At this time, Forsyth Park was developed using the Parisian theme of developing neighbors which radiated out of central green space. Several large cities have emulated this theme. For Forsyth Park, the theme has worked really well. The fountain is not unique though. At the time, it was ordered out of a catalog. There is an identical fountain in Madison, Indiana. In the early days, the fountain did not have the wrought iron fence and it was used as a central location for neighbors to come and cool off, play in the water, and escape the heat.
I think "Forsyth Fountain at Night 2" will make a great fine art piece for anyone who loves Savannah, Coastal Georgia, or Historical things of interest.
