Oh, those Cool Summer Nights in Coastal Georgia!
In Coastal Georgia, the days can be hot and humid with temperatures in the 90s most of the time. Sometimes the temperatures are in the high 90s. Luckily, there is plenty of water to cool off if you like to go swimming or sweet ice tea to drink if you prefer.
At night the temperatures cool to an average of 75 degrees and the humidity goes down. So, photographing at night can be a little more comfortable if you don't mind staying up late, losing some sleep, and you can find some clear skies at night and some dark locations away from city lights.
This summer, I was able to capture some pretty nice night photography fine art works. The photo above (top) entiled "Driftwood Reflections", was entered into the Georgia Nature Photography Association's 'Double Vision' contest. It won a Top 24 in the state honorable mention and will be displayed at the Chattahoochee Nature Center's Fine Art Gallery, Roswell, Georgia, along with a duplicate painting from the Roswell Fine Art Academy this fall (2017).
The above photo, titled "Old Horton House at NIght", depicts the oldest building in Georgia with the ancient Milky Way in the the background.
This photo (above), entitled "Alien Encounter", was photographed on Driftwood Beach, Jekyll Island, Georgia as was the very top photo. I thought the driftwood with the light in the background, especially the one in the middle, looked like alien creatures. I guess you might have to use your imagination, because I've found that not everyone sees the "Alien". No problem, If you can see it, then you've had an "Alien Encounter", lol!
And finally (for this blog at least), is the piece I titled "Full Moon in Darien". It was wonderful to see all of the shrimp boats along the waterfront and it worked out perfectly with the timing of the Full Strawberry Moon. Boone's Seafood warehouse can also be seen in the background.
